About us – an academic background
Akademos was established in 1990 by Wojciech Gajewski, a former employee of The Institute of Applied Linguistics at the University of Warsaw, department of Modern Languages. Akademos' approach to language courses, given the background of its founder, is based on applying the best academic practices. This entails:
- A structural analysis of didactic processes
- Applying knowledge to improve the didactic process
- Developing competencies and qualifications of staff
In October 2011 Akademos was awarded the PASE quality certificate fourth time in a row. The PASE quality certificate, awarded by the Polish Association for Standards in Language Education, an associate member of the international EQUALS Association (European Association for Quality Language Services) is given once every three years and has been awarded to only about 30 schools in Poland so far. The PASE quality certificate is granted to schools meeting the highest standards of operations in the industry, inter alia:
- selection of most qualified teaching staff
- methodology supervision
- reliable advertising
- organizing an effective workplace

Akademos has also been verified by the Education Office in Warsaw (Kuratorium Oświaty) as having high operational standards, including suitable methodology and didactic approach, adequate educational standards and experienced teaching staff. We are authorized to issue MEN (Ministry of National Education) certificates, to confirm completion of our courses by our students.
Another proof of recognition for Akademos is our recent cooperation with the Institute of Polish Studies by the University of Warsaw, whose students will observe lessons taught by our teachers, considered to be 'benchmark for best practice'.
