ACADEMIC+BACKGROUNDACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Akademos Language Centre was founded in 1990 by Wojciech Gajewski, a former employee of the Theory of Language Communication Division of the Institute of Applied Linguistics of Warsaw University. Our founder believes in incorporating the best academic practices in organising language courses. These practices include:

  • Maintaining very high quality of teaching. In this area we cooperate with the Division of Practical Language Didactics of the Institute of Applied Linguistics of Warsaw University.
  • Analysing structural processes of teaching.
  • Using scientific achievements in improving teaching methods.
  • Improving the qualifications of young teachers. Our teaching staff are trained by a psychologist and teaching methodology expert.

Our Centre has twice (in 2002 and 2005) received the certificate of quality granted once in three years by PASE (Polish Association for Standards in English). This means that Akademos is a member an elite group of only 34 language schools in Poland which have gained this distinction. The PASE certificate of quality is awarded to institutions which meet the highest standards in areas such as:

  • the selection of highly qualified teachers,
  • continuous methodological supervision,
  • modern teaching programmes,
  • truthfulness of advertising,
  • quality of work organisation.

Akademos also fulfills the requirements of the Polish Board of Education regarding organisational principles, teaching methods and qualifications of teachers.
